چکیده

background: the use of electric current during application of etch-and-rinse adhesive systems has been recently introduced to decrease microleakage. this study investigated the effects of an electric field produced by an experimental device for the application of a two-step etch-and-rinse adhesive on moist dentin surface. methods: sixty freshly extracted human premolars were used for this study. in order to simulate real conditions, the pulpal pressure was set to 35 cm h 2 o for all the specimens. the teeth were divided into two groups: in group i, etch-and-rinse system (single bond) was applied with electric current while group ii, etch-and-rinse system (single bond) was applied without electric current. specimens were prepared for dye penetration test. the data were analyzed using mann-whitney u test. results: the results showed that group i had less microleakage scores compared to group ii (p = 0.047). conclusion: based on the result of this study, it could be concluded that using electric current for applying adhesive systems had a significant effect on reducing microleakage.

Effect of polymerization accelerator on dentin bonding of one-step bonding agent.

The aim of this study was to enhance the bond strength of one-step bonding agents to dentin. In particular, the focus was on using Catabrush the applicator system of AQ Bond Plus. Catabrush was supplemented with N-phenylglycine and aromatic sulfinate as polymerization accelerators, as N-phenylglycine was reportedly beneficial in improving the bond strength to dentin. The results indicated that ...

Does bonding to dentin reduce microleakage of composite restorations?

This study evaluated the effect of adhesive application only to enamel on the marginal microleakage of composite resin restorations performed with different adhesive systems. Standardized cylinder-shaped cavities were prepared on the buccal surface of eighty bovine incisors. Two etch-and-rinse (Adper Scotchbond Multi-purpose [3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN USA] and Adper Single Bond 2 [3M ESPE]) and two...

Influence of simulated pulpal pressure on efficacy of bleaching gels.

AIM The aim of this study was to investigate the Influence of simulated pulpal pressure on efficacy of bleaching gels. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cylindrical enamel-dentin specimens from bovine teeth (3 mm diameter, enamel and dentin layer each 1 mm thick) were divided into 4 groups, according to the bleaching treatment: negative control (non-bleached), bleached with 10% carbamide peroxide (CP), b...

Effect of Polymerization Accelerator on Dentin Bonding

Presently, resin composites are indispensable for dental restorative treatment because of their favorable esthetic and mechanical properties. In particular, the adhesion of resin composites to dentin has been rapidly improved by progress resin adhesive systems. Of late, resin restorative procedures have been simplified with the development of adhesive systems with fewer processing steps. One of...

Comparison of microleakage of composite restorations using fifth and sixth generation dentin bonding agent: an in vivo study.

INTRODUCTION The success of bonded restorations depends on effective bonding between restorative materials and tooth structure, and it prevents microleakage. New dentin bonding systems have been introduced which promotes this concept. The aim of this study was to compare the amount of microleakage between 'single bond' vs 'Prompt L-Pop' during different time periods. MATERIALS AND METHODS In ...
